Characters of Apple Forest

Character sheets and little bit information of those characters.

  
Otto Omena

 

The main character of Apple Forest. A young boy who is in love with the forest's most beautiful girl, Laila.
Otto is childish and cries yeasily. His best friend is Jesse. He has usually tend to hit Jesse. Otto has a congenital defect; his head is not sticked on his body, so that means that his head may dripple when the airflow is very rough.



Jesse Tatti

Otto's best friend. Jesse truly loves Otto and he is always with him. Jesse is also a hyperactive kid who act before thinking. People thinks that Jesse doesn't own - or use his - brains. Jesse always smiles his mouth open, so thats why he's usually drooling. 






Laila Metsätähti

Laila, the forest's most beautiful girl, lives in her own pinky world. She might be a little faraway and doesn't always notice what is happening around her. Laila rarely speaks and mostly everything you can hear her saying is "haa~♥" or "ooh~♥".

So this is the program that we used the whole first year, and our group is still using it's Pencil Tester. But soon we have to learn to use that new program...

Toonz

...Toonz! Yeah. This is our new animating program. Other groups do their animations with this, drawing straight to computer, cursing the program. I see that it's not so easy that our teacher promised... But thank god we're still using traditional style with doing animation.

Anyway, actually I haven't learned so much for now about this program. But in this semester I'll hopely learn to use it.

3-D Studio Max

Modeling

• Fruit modeling
  
• Character modeling
• Modeling by using tutorials

So for now we have learned only modeling. Later in this semester we will learn putting the bones into the character. And after it we will try animating it.

Adobe Flash

For now we have done only some test animations (how to put some figure to move), and one introduction where I used music, little opening animation, link animations and that kind of stuff. I didn't get make it ready, but there was enough stuff in there so the teacher were happy. I'm not sure if I wanna put it in here because... It's not ready. But if someone still wanna see it, just let me know it and I'll add it in here.

In next period starts Flash Animation lessons. So more about Flash works later~

So, my group's name in school is Mafia.
This year project is to make short animation. We decided to accomplish my original story of Apple Forest (orig. Omenametsä)

I created Apple Forest at junior middle school as a comic. So we're doing it from an original story as well. So, now you can read the comic. (It's in finnish, but the translation is below the comicpage.)

So there was that freaky little comic. Thank god I quit to do that.
Now you (hopely) have some vision of what's going on. Soon I'll post a little vision of how is this all going to look in animation.

The Second Year

I'll put here some test animations from the second year of my school.


First animation in this semester. It's some bloodsplatter for my group's animation project.

First Year Failures

My first year failures - I mean practises. So, because these are just short, few seconds animation practises, I can say that these are not so good... But for me, with one year studying, these were damn cool!


This was my first animation practise at my school. My teacher said it was awesome. ≧∇≦ So, at least it was a good start !


The Cloud is flying around the world in 1 second! ◕3◕


Animation of (super) jump. This was first time when I did the background to my animation! ⌒▽⌒


We had to create own simple characters for coming animations. And we had to use that character in those animations that needs a character. This one doesn't have a name.
Anyway! In this animation had to do a head turning sideways and back and startle.


It's a bird! （゜◇゜） Flying farther...


The final job at first year! We had only 2-3 days to make a whole thing. It was hard. I wanted to try make it look soft and nice, do the colors and everything. But then I didn't have a time to make a background or fix the animation better. If I had a week more time it would be awesome. ￣ー￣

But these all are just a failures and I have learned much from that year!
